Extending a Warm Welcome to the New Additions to the MET Family!

The inauguration of the Aarohan Launchpad (MMS 2023-25) at MET Institute of Management commenced on 31st Aug 2023 with an engaging session led by Dr. Swati Lodha, Director of MET IOM. Dr. Lodha highlighted the curriculum\'s core emphasis on Reading, Research, and Reflection, fostering a well-rounded development journey for students.

As the event unfolded, Mr. Raamdeo Agrawal, Co-Founder of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He delivered an enlightening talk on \'Life Lessons for Future Leaders,\' sharing his incredible voyage through the challenges he faced on his path to becoming a chartered accountant. With insights into financial success, Mr. Agrawal underscored the significance of cultivating a genuine passion for wealth-building. He delved into the art of distinguishing between deserving and desiring, underlining the importance of aligning aspirations with dedicated efforts. Mr. Agrawal inspired emerging leaders to fearlessly chase audacious dreams, while advocating for self-investment as a fundamental principle for personal growth.

The event also introduced the dedicated faculty members and showcased valuable contributions from esteemed corporate figures who are poised to guide students on their transformative journey.

On Day 1 of Aarohan, MET Institute of Management welcomed Guest of Honour Mr. Gaurav Ghelani, Regional Head - Academic Interface Program, Tata Consultancy Services, Guest of Honour Ms. Sourima Sain, Talent Management - Human Resources, Tata Consultancy Services.

Engaging with the management students, Mr. Ghelani shared his insights and enthusiasm for the MBA program. Drawing from his own impressive background, he emphasized the significance of experiential learning. He delved into the art of envisioning one\'s journey a couple of years ahead, underlining the importance of identifying and defining one\'s purpose. He championed an active commitment to the MBA journey, advocating for a hands-on, practical approach over a purely theoretical one, all while maintaining a professional outlook. Injecting a touch of humor, he playfully proposed that ‘MBA’ could also stand for ‘Maturity in Business Administration’.

Ms. Sain illuminated the importance of taking action in the present rather than postponing it to the future. She shared her guiding principles encapsulated in the three E’s: Explore, Engage, and Experience. Ms. Sain highlighted the significance of active involvement in off-campus competitions, offering a platform to showcase the college\'s prowess on a broader spectrum. Leveraging her insights, she expounded on how failures contribute to a holistic comprehension of professionalism. Furthermore, she advocated for agility in embracing all circumstances as they unfold.

On Day 2 of AAROHAN - LAUNCHPAD 2023, the Chief Guest Ms.Sonal Saxena, MD of Client Engagement VMLY&R India. With a wealth of experience in the realms of advertising and branding, she generously shared her pearls of wisdom with the incoming MMS students.

Ms. Saxena\'s discourse was a treasure trove of insights, spanning both professional and personal development. Her words resonated as she expounded on the mantras for success in the ever-evolving world of marketing and branding. She offered invaluable guidance on identifying opportunities and cultivating the essential skill sets necessary to thrive in these domains, thereby laying a strong foundation for the students\' future endeavours.

MET Institute of Management extended a warm welcome to Mr. Sarvesh Shashi, Founder of Sarva, on the second day of AAROHAN - LAUNCHPAD, for MMS 2023-25 batch.

During his captivating talk on \'A Motivational Session by a Successful Entrepreneur,\' Mr. Sarvesh passionately delved into the profound benefits of embracing yogic wisdom. He eloquently emphasised the unwavering reliability of a disciplined lifestyle and underscored the pivotal role of moderation in every facet of life. Furthermore, he shed light on the paramount importance of self-awareness and the art of exercising restraint.

Mr. Sarvesh introduced the concept of the \'6 P\'s\'—Purpose, Passion, Potential, Productivity, People, and Profit—illustrating their pivotal role in achieving holistic well-being. Throughout his discourse, he sprinkled inspiration in the form of memorable quotes, such as \"Live in the present moment, for each breath is a gift,\" and \"Cherish love as if tomorrow may never come, and if it does, cherish it anew.\"

On the second day of AAROHAN - LAUNCHPAD, for MMS 2023-25 batch, MET Institute of Management extended a warm welcome to Eminent Speaker Ms. Shilpa Desai, Ex-EVP and Head of Marketing and a Ph.D. Research Scholar at IIT Mumbai.

During this engaging session, Ms. Desai placed a strong emphasis on the art of goal-setting and the vital role it plays in shaping one\'s path to success. She underscored the significance of conditioning one\'s mind to align with aspirations, all while humbly acknowledging that knowledge is boundless, cautioning against any claims of knowing everything.

Ms. Desai offered sage advice against rushing into the pursuit of expertise prematurely, instead advocating for a steadfast commitment to daily diligence as the true path to earning leisure time. Above all, she highlighted the transformative power of taking notes as an invaluable tool for learning and personal growth.

On the second day of AAROHAN - LAUNCHPAD, for MMS 2023-25 batch, MET Institute of Management extended a warm welcome to Eminent Speaker Mr. Suman Srivastava, Founder, Marketing Unplugged.

Mr. Suman, delivered an enlightening talk titled \"New Marketing for the New World.\" During his presentation, he shared captivating insights with students, emphasising the power of purpose in attracting talent. He discussed the evolving landscape of trade unions and advocated for greater gender diversity in corporate boardrooms. He also touched upon the transformation from the concept of \"one dollar, one vote\" to \"one person, one vote,\" highlighting the changing dynamics of influence. Furthermore, he discussed the concept of the doughnut economy, shedding light on innovative economic models.

During Day 3 of Aarohan Launchpad, the induction program for the recently welcomed MMS Batch 2023-25, MET Institute of Management, had the honour of hosting Ms. Sonia Dasgupta, MD, JM Financial LTD, as Chief Guest. Her insightful talk, titled \'Leadership from 10,000 Feet Above,\' highlighted the significance of shaping one\'s narrative, taking initiative, assuming responsibility, nurturing passion, and upholding ethical standards, particularly in financial matters.

Ms. Dasgupta\'s key message revolved around the principles of integrity, hard work, and leveraging one\'s influence for positive change. She strongly advocated for humility, continuous learning, and active community involvement, offering valuable guidance to our newly inducted students.

On Day 3 of Aarohan Launchpad, the induction program for the newly inducted MMS Batch 2023-25, Guest of Honour Mr. Balachandran S, Head of Investment Advisory at Trust Group, commenced his session reminiscing his educational journey as a former student at MET Institute of Management.

During his enlightening talk on ‘Corporate Jungle’, Mr. Balachandran shared invaluable insights into his decision to pursue a career in financial services. He emphasised that \'ROE,\' commonly known as \'Return on Equity,\' should also be viewed as \'Return on Effort,\' highlighting the pivotal role of dedicated effort in the pursuit of success. Furthermore, he advised students to consider the impact of GDP on their decision-making processes and emphasised the significance of the concept of progressive overload in personal development.

To help students gain international exposure, MET Institute of Management invited Ms. Helle Priess, Founder and CEO of Doercircle.com on Day 3 of the Induction Program, Aarohan - Launchpad. Ms. Helle delivered an inspirational talk titled \"Experiencing Startup Globally.\"

During her address, she spoke of the fundamental principles of entrepreneurship and urged students to \"Dare, Dream, Do\" as they chart their own paths in life. Ms. Priess emphasised the significance of creativity as a defining human quality that distinguishes us from artificial intelligence. Additionally, she highlighted the value of embracing mistakes and placed strong emphasis on our responses to setbacks. She passionately advocated for the cultivation of a global mindset, promoting curiosity as a driving force for continuous learning and personal development. In a candid sharing of her personal journey from the ‘Corporate World to Entrepreneurship’, Ms. Priess underscored the transformative potential of seeking guidance and support on the entrepreneurial journey.

Distinguished guest, Mr. Saharsh Shah, Vice President of HR & Talent Acquisition at 88 Pictures, led an engaging session titled \"Mastering Execution\" during the Induction Program - Aarohan for the newly inducted MMS Batch of 2023-25 at MET Institute of Management.

During his presentation, Mr. Shah shared invaluable insights derived from his personal experiences, emphasising the pivotal role of decisive execution. He also shed light on the efficiency of ChatGPT in accelerating project timelines. Mr. Shah emphasised the critical importance of transitioning from ideation to execution as the paramount phase for achieving success.

The Women Development and Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee of MET Institute of Management organised a workshop on POSH {Prevention of Sexual Harassment, the Act} for its MMS Batch 2022-24 students on 20th February 2023.

The workshop shed light on gender equality, gender-specific violence and inappropriate sexual behaviour. The aim of the workshop was to educate and spread awareness among students about sexual harassment policies, prevention systems, procedures and redressal mechanisms. Post the workshop, students could notice a difference in awareness and practice.

MET Institute of Management Institution’s Innovation Council organised a workshop on Design Thinking, Critical Thinking and Innovation Design. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Manmeet Barve, Associate Professor, MET IOM on 24th February 2023 at 1.30 pm.

The objective of the workshop was to motivate budding management professionals by blending design thinking to foster innovation that delivers customer-centric solutions while overcoming challenges with critical thinking.

As a takeaway from the workshop, the students learned the techniques of problem-solving & brainstorming innovative ideas using a thinking process.

MET IOM Institution’s Innovation Council organised a workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behaviour Development’ on 11th January 2023. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Deepaq Vartak, Founder, King Consultants LLP.

Mr. Vartak outlined the benefits of pursuing entrepreneurship as a career as well as the challenges that one encounter and how they prevent us from becoming entrepreneurs.

MET Institute of Management Institution’s Innovation Council conducted a workshop at Purushottam High School on 25th Feb 2023 as part of the ‘Innovation & Entrepreneurship Outreach Programme at School/Community’. MET IOM initiated the outreach with the objective of making meaningful contributions to the local community through formal & sustained extension programmes.

The session introduced the school’s students to the world of entrepreneurship and innovation, inspiring them to become future leaders. They Learned about the importance of a vibrant local innovation ecosystem. This gave students a perspective on how innovation works through peer group demonstrations and innovative models.

MET Institute of Management organised an Outbound Training for the new batch 2022 -24 of MMS students on 11th & 12th December 2022. The outbound training involved outdoor activities as an experiential learning opportunity for students to develop soft skills for professional success. The activities & management games were planned focussing on quintessential skills such as communication skills, leadership, teamwork, planning and delegation.

Engaging in activities helped students to work together as a team and gain valuable experiences which contributed towards their self - development, social & emotional development and collaborative attitude invariably becoming more receptive to learning management.

MET Institute of Management’s IQAC organised a Happiness Workshop for MET faculty. The theme of the workshop was ‘Stop Trying and Start Being. The resource person Mr. Manny Anchan, Founder & CEO, Happiness Quotient emphasized the importance of adhering to IKIGAI principles to discover one’s passion and live a fulfilling life.
The workshop aimed at fostering a cheerful attitude in faculty members by cultivating a habit of expressing gratitude to feel more connected with their inner selves and reveal the true happiness that lies within.
The workshop was organised on the occasion of ‘World Mental Health Day’ as a long-term happiness initiative that went beyond employee engagement by focusing on developing a positive mindset geared toward increased productivity and efficiency.

On 17 September 2022 MET Institute of Management hosted a Management Development Program exclusively for MET alumni on ‘Enhance your Employability Using New Digital Technologies’ conducted by Mr. Yash Doshi, Deputy Vice President - Digital Solutions, Axis Bank Ltd.
The goal of the workshop was to provide an opportunity for MET alumni to develop and strengthen necessary skills in finance, marketing, human resources and operations by utilising cutting-edge digital technologies. The one day workshop was well appreciated by all the attendees.

MET Institute of Management institutionalised the first student initiative, ‘Adhyapan - The Transformation Hub’ under the guidance of Dr. Farida Virani, Professor, MET IOM.
Adhyapan is a student driven initiative aims at developing competencies of underprivileged school students by providing training and mentorship in the areas of Personality Development, Digital Literacy, Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and General Knowledge.
As a part of the programme, a mentor would be assigned to each mentee to monitor and evaluate the performance on a regular basis. Adhyapan is a distinctive pedagogic intervention that intends to nurture social responsibility among our B-School students through experiential learning.
Adhyapan commenced 2 sessions with students of Purushottam High School, Kherwadi, Bandra East. As a part of the programme 12 sessions would be conducted over the course of the next 6 months. A 15 student team of MET IOM conducted an ice breaking session to know their mentees better. To develop a bond, interactive activities and Games were conducted.

Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) conducted a workshop on ‘Creative Thinking’ for its Institute staff. The MET Centre of Educational Technology (MET CET) department planned the same.
The workshop provided participants an opportunity to showcase their creativity and ideation which resulted in awesome artifacts. The activity was filled with enthusiasm and gave a boost to all the participants.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, the MET Institute of Management planned an interesting and informative yoga workshop for MET faculty and staff members. Mrs. Saloni Yadav, a certified yoga teacher demonstrated the participant\'s exercises and asana which can be performed at the workplace to stay active and nimble in a sedentary lifestyle.

The workshop was a great way to break down certain concepts and postures. It had the luxury to go deep into a specific topic such as arm balances, backbends, etc. A happy soul resides in a healthy body and yoga helps in achieving both. Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) wishes everyone a happy International Yoga Day!

\"It is not about the ideas, it is about making ideas happen\", shared by eminent speakers Mr. Vikas Kakwani, Founder, AAS Vidyalaya and Mrs. Leena Kakwani, Co-founder, AAS Vidyalaya addressing the workshop on \'Process Design For Your Startup\'. It was organised by MET Institute of Management’s Institution Innovation Council under its ‘Impact Learning Series’ where Mrs. and Mr. Kakwani, the recipients of funding of Rs. 1.5 crore in Shark Tank - the famous business reality show, were the key speakers.

The event offered young students a boost for starting a business and dispelled many myths related to it. Budding MBAs at MET greatly benefited from the piece of advice given by the celebrated entrepreneurs.
