Learning Beyond Classroom | MET MMS Industry Adventure

MMS students from MET Institute of Management embarked on a three-day educational journey, from March 14th to 16th, delving into the operations of key industry players. The itinerary included visits to Alok Industries, Euro Decor Pvt Ltd, Parle G, and Classic Marble. During these visits, students gained firsthand insights into manufacturing processes, deepening their comprehension of product development and quality control. They observed the intricate journey of cloth production, from yarn to finished products, highlighting the complexities and innovations within the textile sector. The emphasis on efficiency and scalability underscored the importance of meeting consumer demands effectively.
This immersive experience expanded the horizons of our students, reinforcing lifelong lessons learned in the classroom and preparing them for versatile roles in today\'s dynamic business environment.
Marketing Conclave 2024

MET Institute of Management, in association with Retailers Association of India (RAI), organized a Marketing Conclave on the theme ‘High-end Retailing and Customer Engagement’ on September 28, 2024.
Speakers from various high-end retail segments, including the fashion, clothing, electronics, aviation and lifestyle industries, graced the event.
Mr. Jayant Roy, Managing Director of Lindström India, shared valuable insights on sustainable service solutions in the textile manufacturing sector. He emphasized the use of technology to efficiently track and manage textiles, with a focus on sustainability. Mr. Roy introduced students to the circular business model employed at Lindström, which promotes sustainable practices, reduces waste, and contributes to a greener future for global industries.
Mr. Hitesh Jadhav, CFO, Fly Avcare India, discussed high-end innovative solutions in the private aviation industry. He showcased a range of private planes and helicopters designed to cater to the diverse needs of high-end clientele. He emphasized the importance of luxury, comfort, and safety in meeting customer expectations in the high-end industry.
Mr. Atash Patel, Deputy General Manager of Della Adventure and Resorts, shared his insights on the evolving facets of the luxury segment, particularly in terms of experiential learning. He discussed with students various global practices that redefine luxury, such as walking barefoot on the beaches of the Maldives, which is considered a luxurious experience. Mr. Patel highlighted the distinctive blend of adventure and elegance as the latest trend in the luxury experience segment, emphasizing how these elements are being integrated to create unique and memorable experiences for consumers.
Ms. Nikhita Tandon, a renowned fashion designer from Mynah Designs, offered students valuable insights into the high-end fashion retail industry in India. She emphasized the importance of strategic marketing in fostering the growth of a fashion label on a global scale. Ms. Tandon highlighted key factors that drive success in the high-end fashion industry, such as fashion shows, celebrity collaborations, and a strong online presence. Additionally, she stressed the importance of understanding client needs to create successful designs in the fashion industry.
The conclave witnessed a compelling panel discussion on ‘High-End Retailing and Customer Engagement’ as part of the Marketing Conclave 2024 on September 28, 2024. The event brought together industry leaders to explore the evolving landscape of luxury retail and the key strategies for success in retail management.
Moderated by Dr. Lawrence Fernandes, Director of Retail Learning & Member Relationship, RAI, the panel featured notable speakers including Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Chauhan, Director - HR, Pepe Jeans India Ltd.; Mr. Robin Sharma, Head - HRPB, Croma; and Mr. Chakrapani Sharma, Head HR - West, Lifestyle International Pvt. Ltd.
- Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Chauhan focused on the importance of cultural understanding in luxury retail, noting how brands that integrate cultural nuances into their strategies gain a competitive edge in diverse markets.
- Mr. Robin Sharma shared insights from Croma, explaining how exceptional customer service—helping customers make informed choices—outperformed traditional loyalty programs in building long-term customer loyalty.
- Mr. Chakrapani Sharma emphasized the growing demand for personalized experiences in luxury retail, highlighting innovations like virtual product trials at Sephora that transform shopping into memorable experiences, a trend fueled by rising disposable incomes.

IIC Regional Meet 2023-2024 - MIC Driven Activity

Faculty & Students from MET Institute of Management attended IIC Regional Meet hosted by Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani. The meet was conducted under the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and AICTE. The event was held in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman NETF, Chairman, EC NAAC, and Chairman NBA, and Guest of Honour Dr. Dipan Sahu, Assistant Innovation Director, MIC.
The regional meet marked a significant milestone in nurturing innovation and cultivating the entrepreneurial landscape. It promoted cross-learning, collaboration, and peer support to enhance innovation ecosystems and initiatives across diverse educational institutions while fostering networking and partnership opportunities among IIC members, industry representatives, government agencies, and other stakeholders within the regional innovation ecosystem.
MET Academicians at National FDP on Research Methodology

Dr. Nirmala Joshi, Research Head and Dr. Sagar Gaikwad, Assistant Professor, MET Institute of Management were invited as resource persons for a National Level FDP and Coursework on Research Methodology. The event, organised by the R&D Cell of Kandivali Education Society\'s B K Shroff College of Arts and M H Shroff College of Commerce, aimed to equip participants with essential research skills.
Dr. Joshi\'s session delved into sampling techniques and questionnaire design, guiding participants on how to select representative groups and create effective tools for collecting accurate research data. Dr. Gaikwad\'s session focused on \"Exploring Data Analysis using SPSS and Structural Equation Modelling - PLSM,\" helping participants understand statistical software and its application in building complex research models.
This was a great platform for researchers to develop their skill sets and gain valuable insights, contributing to more impactful research endeavours in the future.
A session on Significance of Startups

MET Institute of Management during the IIC celebration event, invited Ms. Riddhi Sharma, CEO & Founder, Thought In A Dot. On the occasion of National Startup Day, Ms. Sharma led a session to inspire and educate students on the significance of startups in driving innovation and economic growth, particularly focusing on the experiences and insights of a prominent woman entrepreneur.
Ms. Riddhi delivered a compelling keynote address, sharing her own entrepreneurial journey, challenges faced, and lessons learned. She highlighted the role of perseverance, innovation, and adaptability in the startup world.
During the session, students were engaged in an interactive Q&A session with Ms. Riddhi, as an opportunity to seek advice, gain insights, and discuss specific challenges related to entrepreneurship.
Celebration of National Startup Day

MET Institute of Management during the IIC Calendar Event on the occasion of ‘National Startup Day’ invited Mr. Romil Shah, Staff Product Manager, Vonage, to conduct a session on ‘Achieving Problem-Solution Fit and Product-Market Fit.’
The event aimed to guide students on the crucial aspects of aligning solutions with identified problems and finding the right market for their products.
Mr. Shah introduced the students to ‘Lean startup principles and methodologies’ for effective problem-solving and market validation. The participants learned practical approaches to iterate, validate assumptions, and adapt their innovations based on market feedback.
Celebration of National Youth Day

MET Institute of Management during the IIC celebration event - \"National Youth Day\" conducted sessions with students. All the In house faculties conducted a session in their respective classrooms.
During these sessions, students were actively engaged in a mind mapping activity where they brainstormed and visualised a wide range of opportunities that are accessible to youth in the present scenario.
The purpose of this exercise was to encourage students to think critically about their future prospects and to empower them with knowledge about the diverse paths they can explore.
National Level Best Marketing Manager Competition 2024

MET Institute of Management hosted the \'National Level Best Marketing Manager 2024\' competition on 18th January 2024. The event received more than 100 entries from colleges nationwide, with the top 18 selected based on their performance in solving a case study.
The competition consisted of 6 rounds.
Round 1 - ‘Mai Aur Marketing’: Participants delivered concise 2-3 minute presentations demonstrating effective communication, confidence, and a solid understanding of marketing principles, setting the tone for subsequent rounds.
Round 2 - ‘TedX Video & Quiz’: Contestants engaged with two compelling marketing videos and subsequently undertook a challenging quiz designed to evaluate their comprehension and application of pivotal marketing concepts.
Round 3 - ‘Marketing Extempore’: Participants spoke for 2-3 minutes on randomly assigned topics, assessing their quick thinking, time management, domain knowledge, clarity, and confidence in marketing.
Round 4 - ‘Ad Demystifying’: Participants decoded and explained the message of a provided advertisement in a 5-minute presentation
Round 5 - ‘Ad-Mad’: Students worked in groups of three, and demonstrated their creativity by crafting a 3-minute ad skit for randomly assigned products.
Round 6 - ‘Stress Marketing Interview’: This round focused on stress management interviews, assessing participants ability to handle stress in challenging situations effectively.

5 Days FDP: Writing & Teaching Cases

MET Institute of Management recently concluded a successful 2nd ‘5-day Faculty Development Program (FDP)’ on \'Writing & Teaching Cases.\' The program saw a diverse group of 45 participants, with 26 coming from external institutions.
At the end of the program, a total of 11 new cases were written.
Throughout the week, participants gained valuable knowledge and practical skills in crafting effective teaching cases.
Day 1: Dr. Swati Lodha, focused on the fundamentals of case writing - What? Why? and How? Providing a strong foundation for the participants. In the second half, the Case Narrators met with their respective groups and shared industry dilemmas to develop a case.
Day 2: Featured a session by renowned expert Dr. A K Dey, who delved into the specific techniques for writing research-based cases.
Day 3: A full-day, offline session by Dr. Amarpreet Ghura, who led a session on crafting engaging teaching cases and techniques on developing comprehensive teaching notes.
Day 4: Participants actively worked on finalizing their teaching case drafts, receiving support and guidance throughout the process.
Day 5: A dedicated \"Case Clinic\" by Dr. Santosh Dhar, Dr. Swati Lodha and Dr. Amarpreet Ghura provided participants with insightful feedback on their developing cases, helping them refine their work for finalization.
This FDP was a great platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing. We\'d like to thank all the participants, facilitators, and especially Dr. A K Dey, Dr. Santosh Dhar and Dr. Amarpreet Ghura for their valuable contributions!
Awareness Session on IPR & Patents

MET IOM’s IIC in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry Government of India organised an awareness session on ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) & Patents and Design Filing’, under the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM), on 6th December 2023.
The awareness session was conducted to spread the spirit of innovation and creativity for the MMS Batch 2022-24 & 2023-25. During the event, Dr. Bharat Suryawanshi, Assistant Controller of Patents & Designs, RGNIIPM Nagpur, discussed the various laws around IPR, idea generation, implementation of IPR and its practical usage in the industry. In addition, awareness was created on the concept of patent protection, use and validity. In recognition of their active participation, students and faculty members received Certificate of Appreciation issued by the Government of India.
MMS Students Selected for Smart India Hackathon 2023

MET Institute of Management is pleased to inform about MMS Students Batch 2023-25, Mr. Sumit Bacchav, Ms. Punam Rathod, Ms. Arushi Sah, Ms. Akansha Gupta, Ms. Vidhisha Ghosh and Mr. Amish Sah under the guidance of Dr. Swati Lodha, Dr. Manmeet Barve and Mr. Shailesh Sargade, have been shortlisted for the grand finale of the ‘Smart India Hackathon 2023’, collaborative effort by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
The student team along with 2 mentors will travel to Coimbatore in the last week of December to compete for the national event. The team was shortlisted for the problem statement presented by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying for green options for milk packaging.
We wish the team the very best for the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2023.
National Energy Conservation Day

MET Institute of Management during the IIC celebration event, on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day’ organised a session on ‘Raising awareness about the importance of energy conservation to mitigate environmental impact.’ The session was conducted by Dr. Nirmala Joshi, Head of Research and MET SEVA, MET IOM and Dr. Sana Khan, Assistant Professor, MET IOM.
The session was also aimed to encourage the adoption of innovative methods to reduce water consumption in daily activities and promote sustainable practices that contribute to long-term water conservation and overall resource efficiency.
The participants gained knowledge about the significance of energy conservation and its direct impact on the environment, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable practices.
