Independence Day 2019 was celebrated at MET with great enthusiasm and pride to mark the 73 years of Independent India. Indian Flag Hoisting was followed by enthusiastic and power-packed performances by the students and staff of MET Institutes including MET Rishikul Vidyalaya. The glorious celebration included mesmerizing patriotic songs that narrated the stories of bravery and selflessness sacrifice. The energetic dances and performances by MET Rishikul Vidyalaya students displayed the unwavering determination of Indian freedom fighters for the motherland. The occasion was graced by the MET Trustees, Directors, Principals, HODs, faculty, staff, students and parents.

Deepak Kaushik from MET Institute of Management achieved 4th place at the national level of StockMIND Season 7, outshining students from esteemed institutions in the country, including the IIMs. StockMIND organized by ICICI Direct is India’s biggest virtual stock market competition for the students. Deepak initially achieved a first place in the round one and got selected to compete at the National level. He showcased extraordinary intraday trading skills and market knowledge during the 7 day contest.

MET Institute of Management and Association of Mumbai Coaches (AMC) collaborated together to provide coaching programme for MMS students on 3rd Oct 2019. The event saw a range of coaches who trained professionals at the CXO levels in various industries and reputed corporates.

Heightened self-awareness, Improved self-regulation, higher levels of empathy, boost in cognition at work, increased levels of motivation, better social skills and improved leadership abilities are some of the proven benefits of coaching.

The program was initiated and organized by Dr. Farida Virani, Professor - HR, who has led such coaching initiatives for MET students in the past. Director General, MET IOM, Prof Page and Deputy Director, Dr. Sangeeta Tandon welcomed and thanked the coaches for their positive contribution to MET. This interactive session between the students and coaches helped disperse some myths about coaching, clarify questions about the process and also underline a roadmap for the personalized coaching process to follow for each student.

MET organized a Guest Talk by Mr. Sunil Lulla, Group CEO, Balaji Telefilms Ltd for the Students, Faculties, Staff of MET as a part of its 30 years celebration of MET academic excellence, Mr. Lulla addressed the houseful audience on the topic ‘Rules Will Break Rules! What Will You Do?’ This interactive, knowledge sharing question & answer session on industry, OTT, Media World was met with utmost enthusiasm and inspiration amongst all the METizens. The session helped Students to comprehend vision board and its importance to stay on course of life and it also highlighted that how deviations from what you want to do is good at times to arrive at a successful road map.

As a part of the 30 years celebration of MET, the Schools of Management hosted a talk today, 16th March, 2019 by Mr. Chandrashekhar Tilak, Executive Vice President – NSDL on the subject \"Budget 2019 and Beyond – A Different Perspective\" at 10.00am at the Convention Centre. In his ninety minutes talk, he presented the journey of our economy and unique features of 2019 Budget. He exhorted the students to look beyond the narrow confines of traditional careers and explore job opportunities in the ever expanding web based service opportunities as well as the shifting logistics paradigm. He was felicitated and thanked by DG, Dy. Director, HOD’s, Director – IMM, Director - CR and faculty of Schools of Management.

MET Institute of Management launched its maiden ‘Start-up Accelerator’, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Cell in collaboration with a global accelerator experts - CBA Ventures. The association was announced jointly by Shri. Pankaj Bhujbal, Trustee, MET, and Mr. Devang Oza, India Head, CBA Ventures, in the presence of Dr. Vijay Page, Director General - MET Institute of Management, Mr. Thomas Yi, Chairman - Cross Border Associates AG (CBA), Seoul (South Korea), Mr. Manish Oza, Director - CBA AG (Switzerland) and Mr. Dongwook Suh, CEO - CBA Ventures (South Korea).

The Incubation and Entrepreneurship Cell at MET aims to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship to inspire, educate, support, and ignite creative thinking through various activities. It also provides incubation and mentoring support to budding entrepreneurs.

The inauguration began with Dr. Vijay Page, Director General - MET Institute of Management elaborating on how students stand to benefit from the tie-up, followed by an address by Chief Guest, Shri Govindbhai Dholakia, Chairman - Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd., a world renowned diamond exporter from Surat, who shared his personal philosophy and management success secrets which led to creation of a billion-dollar empire in the diamond industry. Adding value to it, Mr. Thomas Yi, Chairman of Cross Border Associates AG (CBA), Seoul - South Korea addressed the students about rapidly growing Indian start-up ecosystem and how this E-Cell initiative would empower MET students with a global perspective, in addition to gaining easy access to the financial support and timely management interventions.

The MET - CBA association, would serve as a global platform for Indian companies looking to expand globally through its global partner CBA Ventures. Working at the grassroots level with Indian start-ups across all business verticals, MET - CBA Ventures would also be identifying companies that have the potential to scale globally and compete globally with their quality business solutions. MET - CBA Start-up Accelerator would probably be the first of its kind professionally run ‘Acceleration Hub’ in the country designed to offer professional support to budding entrepreneurs for early stages so to help them become global companies.

MET Institute of Management (MET IOM) celebrated the NTPC’s Vigilance Awareness Week Program on 1st November, 2019. The theme this year was “Integrity - The Way of Life”. Mr. Ravindran, AGM - NTPC Ltd. and MET alumnus Ms. Namrata Narvekar, Manager HR - NTPC Ltd. presided over the event on behalf of NTPC. The Poster Making, Slogan Writing & Elocution Competitions received an overwhelming response from the MBA students.
The Poster Making Competition was won by Subrat Behera, Abhilash Sonar and Samreen Khan, whereas the Elocution Competition winners were Nabeela Razzak, Sukruti Pandit and Mayuri Mali. Abhilash Sonar, Sonal Mishra and Varun Nowar emerged victorious in the Slogan Writing Competition. Dr. Vijay Page, Director General - MET IOM and Dr. Sangeeta Tandon, Deputy Director - MET IOM addressed the enthusiastic gathering.

The celebrations continued with all the MET Institutes and School getting together on the occasion of Holi, one of the most joyful and vibrant festivals in India. MET echoed with patriotic fervour as students and staff from all MET Institutes came together to celebrate India’s 70th Republic Day on 26th January, 2019. The celebrations began with hoisting of National flag by the chief guest CDR Pravin Deshpande, ex Indian Navy Commander and Pankaj Bhujbal, Trustee - MET, followed by the National anthem. A bouquet of cultural performances including mesmerizing songs, musical skit and thought provoking speeches were presented by students and staff on this occasion. The highlight of the day was an energetic musical skit saluting the courage and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces by MET Institute of Mass Media.

It has been a revolutionary period of more than 71 years for India since the nation became independent from colonial rule. This auspicious day was celebrated with great fervor at MET and MRV. This patriotic occasion was graced by renowned theatre and film personality Ms. Rohini Hattangadi. MET Trustees, Directors, Principals and HODs with students, staff and parents delved into the spirit of patriotism as they watched the performances through dances, speeches and role-plays.

The Ganesh utsav is always celebrated with enthusiasm and energy. But the day after the visarjan the beach tells a different story. The debris littered all around causes immense water pollution, generates unwanted waste that deteriorates the aesthetic view. The MET Institute of Management (MMS) students, like every year, came together for helping with the clean-up at Juhu Beach on 24th September, 2018 at 6:00 am ready with their masks and gloves. The coordination and the team spirit in carrying and collecting the waste showed the true work of the METizens and everyone gave their best to the task. The severe consequences on the environment were unveiled and students have become even more aware and responsible for eco-cause.
