MET Utsav 2020 - The Mega Annual Cultural and Sports fest of the Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) is back with all fun, enthusiasm, and festive vibes. The grand intra-collegiate event spread over a period of almost one month, brings in air of uniqueness, energy and bonding, this gala celebration will culminate with sports meet scheduled on 18th January and finale on 27th January.

The much awaited Utsav kick-started with flash mobs by students across all MET Institutes. The flash mob performances were well coordinated and well appreciated by everyone. The fervor and energy of the students, as well as the audience, made the flash mobs a huge success, indeed MET has been beaming with a whole new level of excitement.

Ever since the announcement of this cultural extravaganza, everyday something new is buzzing on campus like auditions for fashion show, singing, dancing and compering.

On 18th Jan, 2020 the Grand MET Utsav began with an enthralling inauguration ceremony in the presence of thousands of students, faculty and staff. The inaugural dance was a student presentation from all MET Institutes, showcasing ‘Navras’ as the theme of the year. The mesmerizing performances left the audience completely awestruck.

The Creativity Exhibition too was declared open on this occasion, displaying some of the finest paintings, photographs, sculptures and artistic creations by MET students, faculty and staff. This exhibition will remain available for a fortnight. Every year this exhibition offers a platform to students to showcase their creativity and explore their artistic interests & passions.

MET Utsav commencement day also featured the MET Annual Sports Meet inaugurated at the hands of MET Trustee Shri Pankaj Bhujbal. This adrenaline rushing event witnessed about 1000 sports enthusiasts contending and sweating for rolling MET Vikram Trophy. The air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the participants throughout the day.

What a Grand start to the Grand event MET Utsav 2020!

The MET Fest held on 22nd Jan, 2020 was a perfect assemblage of scrumptious food, games, shopping, entertainment and fun. All the students and staff indulged themselves in mouthwatering meals, pottery making, tattoo & nail art, and had a gala time while doing so, making it a fun-filled day. With music, dance and a lively ambience, the MET Fest 2020 was truly a delight.

MET Utsav celebrations bring out the best of everyone. ‘The Talent Show’ and ‘Mr. & Ms. MET’ were organized on 23rd January, 2020 as a part of the festivities. The Talent Show allowed the budding singers to put up an amazing show with their melodious voice and mesmerized all the METizens. The highlight of the evening was the Mr. & Ms. MET Contest, where students walked the ramp and exhibited their confidence with style and beauty.


Cultural Nite - Grand Finale

The month long MET Utsav 2020 concluded with a fabulous Grand Finale - Cultural Nite on 27th Jan, 2020. The high energy power-packed performances on the MET Utsav 2020 theme ‘Navras’ had the audience glued to their seats throughout.

The dances were well choreographed by professionals of fame and performed perfectly by MET students and staff. Right from the school students to post graduate students all came together to celebrate the annual festivity. There were jaw-dropping aerial performances that were well synced to the Indian and western music. Outstanding folk dances based on the MET Utsav 2020 theme ‘Navras’ were well appreciated. Aptly themed \'Colors\' the Fashion Show was indeed fine display of unique yet vibrant colours with well-groomed and dressed handsome and beautiful MET students walked the ramp in style.

Besides the finely synchronized aerial dances that won the standing ovations the evening would also be remembered for the special performance themed \'Kumbh’. Full of energy and vigor, the performance was as realistic as possible to the ‘Kumbh Mela’ that even celebrity Chunky Panday appreciated the same saying, \"Today, at MET I have also been to Kumbh\". The dazzling and enthralling Bollywood dance performance kept the audience engrossed. With MET alumni Maanav Matalia and Jash Bahl in the lead, students performed feats with ease. The event also witnessed fabulous singing performances by MET staff, students and celebrity alumni Mayur Sakhare.

As every year, the Cultural Nite was graced by well-known celebrities from the Bollywood and Marathi Cine World. Personalities like Padmini Kolhapure (an Indian actress who ruled the film industry throughout the 80s), Mrunmayee Deshpande (a famous Marathi Cine star), Ankit Mohan (an Indian film & television actor), Suchitra Pillai (an Indian actress, Model, Anchor and a VJ), Arjun Bijlani (a model and famous Indian television and film actor), Chunky Panday (an Indian film actor known for comic roles), Sophie Choudry (an Indian actress, former VJ and television presenter), Shaan (India\'s dearly adored playback singer) marked the event with their presence. Needless to say that these celebrities added their own special fervor to MET Utsav.

On this occasion the MET Gaurav Awards were given to members of the MET family who have showcased the highest level of Achievement and Excellence at the international or national level whereas MET Ratna Awards were conferred upon the sharpest minds of MET who have emerged toppers in their respective courses. They are the true Ratnas who make the MET family proud. These coveted Awards were bestowed at the hands of MET Chairman Shri Chhagan Bhujbal in the presence of Hon. MET Trustees Mrs. Meena Bhujbal, Shri Pankaj Bhujbal, Shri Samir Bhujbal, Dr. Jitendra. S. Wagh, Mr. Subhash Sanas and Mr. Dilip J Khaire. MET Vikram Rolling trophy which is awarded to the MET Institute that scored the maximum points at the MET Annual Sports Meet 2020, was bagged for the 5th time in a row by MET Institute of Management (MMS).

Indeed, MET Utsav is one of its own kind of event ever hosted by an Institution. Highly spirited and zealous display of professional stage skills by MET students deserved a great appreciation therefore won the applauds from student, faculty, parents and celebrities alike. Kudos to the METizens.

The PG students of mass media interviewed Colonel Ranveer Jamwal, the first Indian to summit the seven highest mountains in the world. The students also interacted and interviewed Veteran Mountaineer Umesh Zirpe. This excerise is as part of the creation of their portfolio.

The ADMM Journalism and PR students attended the press conference conducted at The Press Club, Mumbai. The event was for honouring the winners of ‘The Mumbai Moments Excellence in Photography Awards 2020 and Calendar Launch’. The event was graced by renowned actress Ms. Deepika Padukone. Students got an opportunity to interact with different journalists. They also observed how such events are organized and the role of PR and strategy for the publicity plans. The students also had a pleasant interaction with the Secretary of The Press Club, who explained them the entire process of media events. This activity was part of the academic assignment for the subject ‘Print Media’.

Sarova Fun Run with Mirchi is a colourful family run stretched across 3 kms and the first of a kind run happening in Mumbai after years. The students experienced the blast of colours in two different zones comprising of a Color zone and Foam zone to keep it colourful all way long. Both Tanishka and Varsha were awarded the ‘Run Finishers Medal and a participation certficate from Radio Mirchi.

MET Institute of Mass Media recently conducted its 6th Annual HR Meet - MET Synergy 2019. The event witnessed participation of Human Resource Professionals from major media organizations such as VGC, ABP News, Viacom 18, Hungama Digital, BC Webwise, Socio Square, Jio Studios, Publicis, Madison Communications, Network 18, Radio City, Triton Communications, Reliance Entertainment, Liqvd Asia and PI Communications to name a few. The panel discussion was on the topic of ‘Retaining Humans as Resources’. Students received very interesting insights on important segments like appraisals, talent spotting trends, essence of having crisp resumes and a deep understanding about being multi-skilled and multitasking. The discussion highlighted certain crucial aspects like the need to have an alignment between people, processes, business and the culture that organizations have. Another important value add in the discussion was that during the recruitment process it is not only the organization evaluating the candidate but it is also the candidate evaluating the opportunity.

Celebrating 30 Years of Excellence

The grand annual cultural extravaganza of Mumbai Educational Trust (MET), Bhujbal Knowledge City was celebrated on an unprecedented scale at their world class campuses located in Mumbai and Nashik. Established in 1989, MET is celebrating 30 glorious years of Academic Excellence and MET Utsav marked the beginning of this year-long celebration

Sheer grandeur, extravaganza and brilliance marked the ‘MET Utsav 2019’. The grand fest kickstarted with a round of auditions for singing, dancing, fashion show and compering in the first and second week of January 2019. Following this, there was a grand inauguration on 12th January, 2019. The highlights of the day were the action packed thrilling bike show and mass dance put forth by the students and faculty of MET to the tune of the MET Utsav Anthem.

The annual sports day meet held on January 14th was declared open with the customary torch lighting ceremony, with the Trustees doing the honors coupled with an energetic dance performance by students which set the tone for the rest of the event. The sports meet came to an end by felicitating the winners. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, great zeal and memories to cherish.

The ‘Robotech Exhibition’ held on 25th January provided the much-needed platform to the young talent to showcase their innovative designing skills whereas the \'Art-n-Craft and Photography Exhibition\' gave an opportunity to art enthusiasts to display and at the same time have a peek into the art world. METizens interacted with AI in the MET Augmented Reality Show (MARS). The \'Talent Show\' provided the youth to display its raw talent through mimicry and musical performances that saw staff participation as well.

At the MET Utsav Cultural Nite held on 29th January 2019 , the performances of the students left the audience spell bound. Aerial, techno, Bollywood, Indian dance performances, skits and the musical renditions were extremely captivating and enthralling. The witty anchors and mimicry artistes kept thousands of audience glued to their seats. The icing on the cake was the magnificent fashion shows.

The MET Utsav celebrations were graced by well-known celebrities from the Hindi and Marathi cine world like renowned actor Riteish Deshmukh, a pioneer of Indian fusion music and winner of Padmashri award, singer Hariharan, versatile multilingual playback singer Madhushree, actress and model Natasha Doshi, producer and actor Vikas Gupta, model and actor Priyank Sharma were some of the celebrities who added to the entertainment with their on-stage performances and encouraging words. The participation of Alumni from across the different batches through the years, added a dash of nostalgia to the star-studded event.

Academic toppers from each institute were conferred the prestigious MET Ratna Awards, while students who showed their prowess at the international, national and state levels were honoured with the MET Gaurav Awards. The awards were presented by Founder Chairman, Chhagan Bhujbal and MET Trustees - Mrs. Meena Bhujbal, Pankaj Bhujbal, Samir Bhujbal, Dr Jitendra Wagh and Dr Nirmal Surya.

Demonstrating teamwork and unity, MET Utsav 2019 was not just a platform for celebrations and festivities but it also allowed the entire MET family to bond and envision a future.

MET Institute of Mass Media is the recipient of the prestigious award ‘Outstanding Institute for Mass Media Management of the Year’ at the 9th World Education Summit & Awards 2019. This Global Summit was presented by Worldwide Achievers in association with ‘India Today Television’ and ‘Talent India’ in New Delhi on 6th April 2019. The awards were based on a comprehensive market research study and multiple opinion surveys conducted by Worldwide Achievers. Girish, Content Head at Spull Entertainment, delivered an amazing lecture on the Overview of Indian Media Business for our Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising, Entertainment, Journalism and Digital Marketing students on 10 August 2018. He explained OTT (Over the Top) and cellphone platforms in great detail. This was followed by introduction to cellular platforms and their emergence as an important source of information. He informed the PG in mass media students regarding interactive feedback of the audiences which can be assessed on these platforms, helping us improve the quality of the content. Mr. D. Girish resolved all the doubts and queries of our students regarding the Indian Media Business.

Ms. Shweta Khanna, Senior Editor at CNBC Awaaz, shared the crucial aspect of challenges emerging in Journalism to Post Graduate Diploma students in Advertisement, Entertainment, Public Relations, Journalism and Digital Marketing of MET Institute of Mass Media on 01 Sept, 2018. She spoke about aligning TV programming in sync with social media. Citing real life humorous incidents with the students, she taught PG students in Mass Media, on how to tackle fake news as a sensible reader rather than depending on the sender. She explained in detail about the workings and aesthetics of the TV industry, importance of effective communication in the world of social media and how TV is aligning itself to the same. The lecture was then followed by a Q&A session, to resolve the doubts of PG in media students. The session helped students gain a valuable insight into the field of Journalism and Communications.
