Simulation Games mirroring challenges of Everest

MET Institute of Management recently provided its MMS 2024-26 students with a unique learning experience; an innovative teaching pedagogy as a part of the induction program. By screening the critically acclaimed film ‘EVEREST’, the institute aimed to explore the intricacies of strategic planning in a competitive business environment. This management movie\'s portrayal of decision-making under extreme conditions offered a powerful metaphor for the challenges faced in the corporate world.
To reinforce these concepts, students participated in a simulation game mirroring the challenges of EVEREST, organised by Square Sequel Consulting - Ms. Zoya Natterwala, AVP - Customer Experience & Design Thinking Master Practitioner, Ms. Usha Jain, Finance Manager, Mr. Salik Syed, Digital Designer, Mr. Satyam Mall, Executive, Mr. Randhir Mall, Officer.
This interactive exercise allowed them to apply their knowledge, navigating unpredictable scenarios, balancing resources, and coordinating strategies under pressure. This experiential learning approach equipped the students with essential skills for leadership, crisis management, and adaptability, preparing them for future success in the business world.
Cleanup at Juhu Beach by MET IOM

On 19th September 2024, MET Institute of Management\'s Social Cause and Sustainability Committee, MET SEVA, in collaboration with Lions Club of Mumbai MET Campus, conducted a successful beach cleanup at Juhu Beach. With 30 enthusiastic student volunteers, a significant amount of waste was cleared, contributing to a cleaner, healthier coastline.
Special thanks to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for their crucial support in waste management. The dedication and teamwork shown by our students truly made this initiative impactful. Let\'s keep moving towards a sustainable future, one action at a time.

MET Institute of Management in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, University of Mumbai and Atlantis University, USA organised a Two Day International Research Conference on \"VIKSIT BHARAT @2047: VOICE OF YOUTH\".
This conference delved into a myriad of themes, spanning economic development, social inclusion, technological advancements, and global partnerships. The conference was tailored for policymakers, industry leaders, academia, entrepreneurs, and visionaries who are committed to shaping India’s future.
On 5th April 2024, the conference was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal, Hon. Trustee, Mumbai Educational Trust, Dr. Swati Lodha, Director, MET IOM, Mr. S. V. R. Srinivas, IAS, CEO, Dharavi Redevelopment Authority, Mr. Arun Raste, Managing Director & CEO, NCDEX, Ms. Nikita Abhanave, Digital Marketing Expert, Dr. Nirmala Joshi, Head Research & MET Seva, MET IOM, and Dr. Sagar Gaikwad, Assistant Professor, MET IOM.
The conference objective was to enable young people to actively contribute to shaping a sustainable and inclusive future for India. It aims to unite young minds from varied backgrounds to collectively envision India\'s future as it nears its centenary year in 2047. Through idea exchange, and research papers, the conference will emphasize exploring innovative solutions to the challenges and opportunities facing the nation.
During the conference MET Institute of Management welcomed Mr. S. V. R. Srinivas, IAS, CEO, Dharavi Redevelopment Authority. In his keynote speak, Mr. Srinivas emphasised the necessity of dreams in propelling progress, stressing that these dreams must be tangible and actionable. He highlighted themes such as social inclusion, sustainability, and the generation of carbon credits. Mr. Srinivas underscored the significance of data-driven decision-making in today\'s world, emphasising its pivotal role. He also discussed the imperative of questioning one\'s purpose for effective research outcomes.
Mr. Srinivas shared insights from his involvement in projects like the Santacruz-Chembur link road and the Dharavi development project in Mumbai. He stressed the significance of marketing, particularly in communication and HR management, given the complexities of projects like Dharavi. He exposed participants to the various opportunities presented with rehabilitation taking into consideration the economic and personnel displacement.
Mr. Arun Raste, Managing Director & CEO at NCDEX addressed the current state and envisioned future goals for 2047. He highlighted significant challenges, including the 12% of India\'s population still living below the poverty line and the country\'s ranking of 130th in the Human Development Index (HDI). Mr. Raste discussed strategies to address these issues, emphasising the importance of social parameters such as ethics in fostering national progress. He also highlighted the potential impact of technology on employment and stressed the need for cautious consideration in this regard. He emphasised the critical role of skills in today\'s dynamic world and advocated for a multidimensional approach to personal and professional development.
Ms. Nikita Abhanave, Digital Marketing Expert, emphasised the crucial role of expertise in the evolving field of marketing. She discussed the Digital India initiative and its significant contribution to the GDP. Additionally, she highlighted the emergence of the creator economy, encompassing influencers and content creators, and explored the influence of AI and machine learning in shaping this sector. Ms. Abhanave shed some light on Omni-channel marketing strategies and consumer segmentation, covering various aspects of the marketing landscape.
On the second day of the conference, MET Institute of Management collaborated with Square Sequel Consulting Pvt. Ltd. to empower students at the conference. This platform provided an immersive leadership development experience through \"Journey to the Top,\" a dynamic simulation designed by Dr. Jimmy Jain. This hands-on program challenged participants to hone their strategic decision-making, collaboration skills, and leadership potential. Through simulated scenarios and guided reflections, students gained valuable insights into their leadership styles and teamwork dynamics.
Dr. Subramanya Kusnur, Founder Chairman & CEO, Aquakraft was welcomed during the 2nd day of International Research Conference. His visionary address on sustainability in Viksit Bharat captivated the audience. He emphasised the critical importance of securing basic elements for survival, highlighting the need for innovative solutions. Dr. Kusnur shared thought-provoking insights, such as the Aldino effect, which exemplifies the shifting norms in today\'s world. He also brought attention to pressing issues like water consumption by software companies in Bangalore.
Furthermore, Dr. Kusnur showcased Aquakraft\'s groundbreaking innovations as a beacon of hope for a sustainable future. He highlighted their world-first water conservation technology and digital bank, emphasising their commitment to offering simple yet effective solutions to complex problems. Their work underscores the power of innovation in driving sustainable change.
MET Institute of Management welcomed Mr. Sunil Joglekar, External Advisor - McKinsey & Company. In a powerful address, Mr. Sunil Joglekar offered his profound insights on Viksit Bharat. He emphasised that true development goes beyond just economic growth, encompassing a multifaceted approach. Mr. Joglekar emphasised on the importance of a collective shift in mindset, arguing that achieving the dream of Viksit Bharat requires a change in perspective from everyone.
He urged individuals to consider their own contributions, no matter how small, as they all add up to significant progress for the nation. To illustrate the power of individual initiative, Mr. Joglekar shared a fascinating anecdote from 1985. He recounted developing an electric vehicle using Italian batteries, a project that eventually reached Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. This story exemplifies how individual efforts can drive progress and innovation on the path to Viksit Bharat.
The conference concluded successfully with the announcement of winners across various categories.
