Nirmalya Collection & Composting for a Greener Future
MET Hydrogreen, The Green Club of MET Institute of Pharmacy (Diploma), organized a Nirmalya Collection & Composting Drive during Ganesh Chaturthi, ensuring eco-friendly disposal of offerings.
With the guidance of Dr. Suryakant Bhosale, Principal, MET Institute of Pharmacy (Diploma), Mrs. Dipali Khabale, Faculty Coordinator, and the enthusiastic participation of 47 students, the collected Nirmalya was processed through aerobic composting using the rotary drum method, transforming it into organic fertilizer.
This initiative not only reduced organic waste but also promoted sustainable waste management practices, inspiring the community to embrace eco-friendly traditions.

Students of MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) from the third and fourth year enthusiastically participated in a Tree Plantation Drive at Mulund, organized by My Micro Forecast. This initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainability through the plantation of native tree species.
The activity not only helped restore biodiversity and improve green cover but also instilled a deeper sense of social responsibility and commitment to sustainable living among our students.

Celebrating Teacher\'s Day at MET IOP Diploma
MET Institute of Pharmacy (Diploma) celebrates Teacher’s Day 2025 on 5th September 2025, as the second-year Diploma students came together to honour their beloved faculty and staff. The event beautifully reflected the spirit of respect, admiration, and togetherness that defines the teacher-student relationship.
The celebration began with warm and emotional speeches from students, expressing appreciation for the constant guidance, encouragement, and support provided by the teaching and non-teaching staff. Fun-filled games and interactive sessions added to the festive atmosphere, bringing teachers and students together in moments of laughter and camaraderie.
A cake-cutting ceremony highlighted the sweetness of the teacher-student bond, while tokens of appreciation presented by the students carried immense emotional value, received with warmth and gratitude by the faculty and staff.
The day concluded with group photographs, cheerful smiles, and cherished memories, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of pride in being part of the MET family.

Smart India Hackathon 2025

MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) successfully hosted the Internal Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 on 19th & 20th September 2025.
The event served as a dynamic platform for our third and fourth-year students to showcase innovative solutions to real-world problem statements, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and practical application of knowledge. With 19 enthusiastic teams participating, the hackathon highlighted the spirit of collaboration and innovation.
We were honoured by the presence of Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal, Hon. Trustee, Mumbai Educational Trust, who motivated students with his words of encouragement. The jury panel, which included, Mr. Shailesh Sargade (Assistant Professor, MET Institute of Management), Mrs. Vrushali Keer, Assistant Professor, MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), and Dr. Sindhu Menon, Assistant Professor, MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) – evaluated the solutions on creativity, feasibility, and impact, providing valuable feedback. The event was seamlessly co-ordinated by Dr. Rashmi Srivastava, SIH SPOC & Associate Professor, MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree).

Dr. Bandoo Chatale, Assistant Professor at MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), was invited as a resource person for the One-Week Faculty Development Program organized by SVKM’s NMIMS, SPTM, Shirpur Campus.
He conducted a session on “Revolutionizing Pharmacy and Health with AI: Tools, Trends & Tomorrow†on 7th May 2025 — highlighting the role of Artificial Intelligence in reshaping pharmaceutical education and healthcare.

Advancing Drug Safety: MET at International Conference
MET Institute of Pharmacy (Diploma) presented an e-poster on “A New Era for Drug Safety: From Trials to Continuous Real-World Monitoring†at the Annual International Conference hosted by Medicaps University, Indore, on 23rd August 2025.
MET faculty members, Ms. Apurva Jadhav and Ms. Payal J. Chavan, delivered this insightful e-poster presentation. The conference brought together global experts to discuss the latest advancements in drug safety and clinical research. Their presentation highlighted the growing importance of real-world evidence (RWE) in complementing clinical trial data to enhance patient outcomes and support regulatory decisions.

Tradition to Innovation in Pharma - Day 2
MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) successfully hosted Day 2 of the seminar on “Indian Knowledge System in Pharmaceutical Sciences: From Tradition to Innovation†on 19th Sept 2025. The day began with the ceremonial lamp lighting and invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, setting a divine and inspiring start to the sessions.
The sessions featured distinguished speakers, Prof. Sunita Shailajan, Dean of Research, Development and Innovation at Ramnarain Ruia College, Dr. Sasikumar Menon, Associate Professor at Ramnarain Ruia College, Ms. Sabina Shirsekar, Consultant Scientist, Product Development at Navyug Global Ventures, and Mr. Saurabh Chhatre, CEO of Accu Write Pharma Solutions, who shared their expertise on authenticating raw materials, evaluating herbal formulations, exploring pharmacognosy, and the traditional Sanskar processes in Ayurveda.
The seminar offered students a meaningful blend of traditional wisdom and modern pharmaceutical sciences, making it an enriching learning experience.

Two-Day National Seminar
MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), under the aegis of IQAC and IKS Cell, successfully hosted a Two-Day National Seminar on “Indian Knowledge System in Pharmaceutical Sciences: From Tradition to Innovation†on 15th September 2025. The first day seminar commenced with a Poster Presentation Competition, offering students an excellent platform to showcase their research and creativity while emphasizing the relevance of Indian Knowledge Systems in today’s pharmaceutical landscape.
The event was graced by an esteemed panel of judges including Dr. Archana Naik, Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Analysis, Bombay College of Pharmacy; Dr. Manasi Suhas Gholkar, Associate Professor in Pharmacognosy, Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Pharmacy; Dr. Jaya Agnihotri, Associate Professor in Pharmaceutics, HK College of Pharmacy; and Mr. Angel Godad, Assistant Professor in Pharmacology, SVKM\'s Dr. Bhanubhen Nanavati College of Pharmacy, whose valuable insights enriched the competition.
The winners of the competition were celebrated for their innovative ideas. The first prize was awarded to the project “Ayurnomics: From Tradition to Evidence†by Final Year B. Pharm students from MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) – Mr. Niraj Godse, Mr. Kunal Jadhav, Mr. Calvin Nazareth, and Ms. Saee Thakur. The second prize went to “The Quantum Leap of Ayurveda: Fusing Tradition with AI and Nanotech†by Ms. Anjali Gaud, Ms. Shakeela Shaikh, and Mr. Ashutosh Panda from H.K. College of Pharmacy. The third prize was bagged by “Chrono-Ayurveda: Time-Synced Tridosha Tablet†by Ms. Shrishti Singh, Ms. Prachi Pedekar, Mr. Atharva Khapare, and Ms. Apoorva Gajula.

Cyber Safety & Women Empowerment Seminar at MET IOP Degree
MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) organized an informative seminar on Cyber Crime, Women Safety, and Anti-Ragging
in collaboration with Mumbai Police, Bandra on February 27, 2025.
Respected Principal Dr. Abha Doshi welcomed a distinguished panel of officers, including Mr. Sriram Ghodke (Cyber Cell),
Mr. Balaji Bhange, Mrs. Priyanka Veerkar (Women Cell), Mr. Shankar Patil, Mr. Santosh Pawar, Mr. Sunil Tawde, Mr. Sudarshan Gaikwad
(Anti-Ragging Committee Member), and Mr.Ravindra Baban Waje (Police Constable). The session was efficiently coordinated by
Mrs. Sheeja Koliyoye.
Key insights from the seminar included

- Women’s Safety – Be vigilant, avoid sharing private photos, and seek help when needed.

Hospital Visit: Exploring Pharmacy Management & Nursing Services at Lilavati Hospital
Second-year Diploma Pharmacy students from MET Institute of Pharmacy (Diploma) visited Lilavati Hospital on 15th February 2025 to gain practical insights into hospital pharmacy management and nursing services.
The Pharmacy Department guided students through medication management, supply chain control, inventory systems, and distribution processes, emphasizing responsible medication handling and error prevention.
In the Nursing Department, an interactive seminar by the Nurse Educator covered injection techniques and administration methods, followed by a live demonstration, enhancing students’ understanding of patient care and drug administration.
This enriching experience deepened their knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations and prepared them for real-world healthcare challenges!

Dry Waste Collection Drive
DLLE Committee at MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), in collaboration with United Ways Mumbai, organized a successful ‘Dry Waste Collection’ drive from 14th October to 21st October 2024, aimed at promoting sustainability and responsible waste management. The initiative kicked off with an insightful seminar, by consultants of United Ways, discussing the massive waste generation in Mumbai, the types of waste, and proper disposal methods. The seminar emphasized the importance of recycling waste, instead of adding it to overflowing landfills.
Following the seminar, a week-long drive encouraged participants to bring dry waste from their homes or collect it from around the college campus and segregate it in designated bins. The drive highlighted how simple waste segregation can contribute significantly to environmental preservation.

First prize at Advances in Pharmaceutical Technology ‘24
Ms. Nidhi Mishra, Final Year B. Pharm student at MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), has won the first prize in the poster competition at the 2-Day National Seminar entitled, “Advances in Pharmaceutical Technologyâ€, organised by the Department of Pharmaceutics, VES College Of Pharmacy in association with APTI Maharashtra State Branch held on 24th and 25th October 2024. Her poster presentation, guided by Dr. Vijaya Patil, showcased her deep knowledge earning her recognition over competitors. MET also extend appreciation to fellow students Mr. Dharmendra Purohit and Ms. Khatija Khan, who participated in the competition under the guidance of Ms. Sunanda Patil.

Coastal Biodiversity and Waste Management
On October 11, 2024, the DLLE and Green Club of MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) organized a knowledge-sharing seminar in collaboration with United Way Mumbai, titled “SHORE WALK.†The event focused on educating participants about coastal biodiversity and waste management. The seminar kicked off with Mr. Shubham Nikam, a consultant, United Way, who engaged students through a Google form, asking thought-provoking questions about coastal pollution and its effects on marine life.
He discussed the rich marine biodiversity of Mumbai, which has been severely impacted by plastic and non-biodegradable waste. Mr. Nikam also shed light on the sources of ocean pollution and its harmful consequences on marine ecosystems, while emphasizing the importance of waste segregation and the challenges posed by plastic waste in recycling.
He encouraged participants to take part in beach clean-up activities to raise awareness and contribute to preserving coastal ecosystems.
