Visit to Yotta Data Centre

MET Institute of Management organised a student and faculty field visit to Yotta Data Centre, New Panvel, on 22nd July 2025, to provide them practical exposure to large-scale data infrastructure and cloud operations. A selected group of 22 students from MMS 2024–26, and four faculty members Dr. Rashmi Badhani, Mr. Sandesh Akre, Ms. Dharmishta Gala, and Ms. Arzoo Jaiswal, participated in this industry visit.
The visit featured an insightful session conducted by Yotta’s expert team, including Mr. Ravi Soni, Mr. Abhishek Shedge, Mr. Tribhuvan Bohra, and Mr. Sivaramakrishnan Iyer. They elaborated on the core functionalities of the data centre, highlighting its high-availability architecture, tier classification, advanced power backup systems, and precision cooling technologies.
A significant emphasis was placed on the data centre’s robust security protocols, including multi-layered physical access control, 24/7 surveillance systems, and comprehensive fire protection measures. Faculty members and students also gained valuable insights into server management, virtualisation, data backup strategies, and disaster recovery mechanisms. The field visit offered a comprehensive understanding of how modern data centres enable and support digital infrastructure and enterprise computing ecosystems. It was an enriching learning experience that bridged academic knowledge with real-world applications in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
