On 7th July 2023, the United Ways Mumbai Team collaborated with the Social Welfare Committee and DLLE committee of MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) to host a public safety and road safety program at the MET MCA seminar hall. The program commenced with Mr. Sujit Patil, an esteemed guest, who introduced the structure and conducted a pre-test focused on traffic laws and safety. They also shared valuable guidance on bike selection, system inspection and pillion rider seating.

The information presented during the program was sourced from the Maharashtra Safety Council. Additionally, they showcased a pie chart illustrating the states with the highest frequency of accidents, mainly due to the presence of major cities in those states. Moreover, they showcased live recordings of unintentional scenarios based on the theme of overspeeding.

Another crucial topic addressed during the program was assisting accident victims by dialing 108 for an ambulance. Thus, participants were given a brief reminder to exercise caution and responsibility.

The primary objective of the seminar was to debunk common misconceptions surrounding blood donation while emphasizing the differences between plasma and platelet donations. Dr. Itkare\'s aim was to motivate the attendees to take part in the upcoming blood donation campaign scheduled for September 5th, 2023. During her presentation, Dr. Itkare shared a heartfelt real-life story about a young leukemia patient to raise awareness about the importance of platelet donation. She also provided a comprehensive explanation of the process and the benefits of becoming a platelet donor. The seminar concluded with Dr. Itkare addressing questions from the audience, which contributed to a deeper understanding of blood and platelet donation among all participants.

The IQAC of MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) hosted a seminar ‘Industry Expert Talk’ on Thursday 20th July 2023.The seminar was addressed by Dr. Anita Nair who is currently heading the team of global subject matter experts responsible for registration and lifecycle management of APIs, excipients, cell culture media, food materials, and medical devices for a global market. The team also provides Regulatory Intelligence, Advocacy, Customer support, Training and Consultancy for the Life Science business at Merck

Dr. Nair is an experienced professional in various fields related to pharmacy and educated the students about the multiple options one can look into after completing a bachelor\'s degree in pharmacy. She voyaged the students through her whole journey in numerous pharma fields. She briefed the students about the path one may walk from university to industry. She emphasized two career phase insights - academics and industry. She advised the students to develop skills in collaborations, digitalization, regulations and calculated risks common to all fields as well as leadership abilities and business perspective having more importance in industrialization, lab management and research fields. The seminar concluded with Dr. Nair wishing the students good luck for their future and each student having a fair idea about what the future opportunities are, that they can choose based on their strengths while working for the betterment of the society.

The thematic focus of the seminar was carefully chosen to provide contemporary pharmacy students with a solid foundation in comprehending the essentials of research within the pharmaceutical domain.

The seminar featured a series of enlightening talks by distinguished speakers. Dr. Chhaya Gadgoli expounded on the \'Fundamentals of Biostatistics,\' while Dr. Nalini Kurup delved into the realm of \'Preformulation Studies.\' Dr. Swati Patil\'s discourse revolved around \'Unveiling Nature\'s Enigmas: From Botanical Sources to Therapeutic Applications.\' Dr. Urmila Joshi imparted invaluable guidance on the proper methodology of publishing a research paper and Dr. Anubha Khale discussed intriguing insights into \'Formulation Studies.\'

Esteemed faculty members hailing from diverse pharmacy colleges across Mumbai were invited to serve as esteemed judges for the poster competition. The panel of judges comprised respected individuals including Dr. Rajashree Hirlekar, Dr. Anagha Raut, Dr. Galvina Pereira and Dr. Rupali Tasgaonkar.

Concluding the event, Dr. Abha Doshi expressed gratitude through a vote of thanks, and deserving participants of the poster competition were honored with cash prizes. On the 9th of August 2023, the Bombay College of Pharmacy organized a seminar that was attended by IOP (Degree) final year students. Dr. Joan D’Souza, who holds the ISoP chair for Switzerland and Austria, contributed her extensive clinical research experience and expertise in ensuring patient safety. Prof. Moin Don, an Adjunct Professor deeply engaged with the ISoP chapter in South Asia, provided valuable academic insights concerning drug development and surveillance. Adding an industry perspective, Mr. Sanjay Menon, the Country Head of Patient Safety at Novartis, shared insights grounded in real-world practices. Mrs. Sheeja G Koliyote, Faculty, MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), achieved the second prize in the online poster presentation competition hosted by the Association of Pharmaceutical Research (APR). The competition took place during the \"10th World Conference on Pharmaceutical Science and Drug Manufacturing\" held on 6th-7th July 2023. The conference focused on the theme of \"An Integrative & Holistic Approach towards Pharma Science\". It highlighted the significant impact that disruptive technologies and emerging trends are expected to have on the pharmaceutical industry. In order to provide better healthcare in the future and prioritize digital health, the pharmaceutical sector must embrace these new technologies. The conference served as a platform for prominent pharmaceutical scientists, executives and decision-makers from around the world to exchange knowledge and insights regarding the latest advancements and challenges in the industry. Dr Jhalani explained the spectrum of mental health, stated warning signs of mental illness and explained why and when an individual needs to seek help. Concluding the session, Dr. Devanshi suggested medications, psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, vitamins and supplements as recommended treatment for mental illness as well.

Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and TradeMarks, successfully conducted the IPR awareness/training program under the special mission called ‘National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM)’ at MET Institute of Pharmacy (Diploma) on 3rd February 2023.

The seminar began with an introductory speech by Dr. Suryakant Bhosale, Principal, MET IOP (Diploma) followed by the presentation by Mr. K. Narayanmurthy, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Examiner of Patent & Design and Patent Officer in the field of Metallurgy.

The aim of conducting this seminar was to know the significance of National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission 2.0 which was started by the Central Government to spread awareness regarding patents. MET IOP (Diploma) was awarded a certificate by CGPDTM for active participation and cooperation in making this program successful as well.

On March 23, 2023, the MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) partnered with Campbell University USA to host a comprehensive \'International Conference on Clinical Research and Experimental Pharmacology\'. The conference was conducted through both online and offline modes, with multiple colleges participating through the online platform. Additionally, the students of MET attended the conference in offline mode.

The conference showcased a group of distinguished speakers who imparted their expertise and knowledge to the attendees. Among them was Dr. Charles Carter, Professor and Chair, Department of Pharmaceutical & Clinical Sciences, Campbell University. During his presentation, Dr. Carter delved into clinical research design strategies specifically tailored for global studies. The lecture was highly informative and furnished attendees with crucial insights into the intricacies of designing and executing clinical research projects on a global scale.

During a presentation on addressing the challenge of antimicrobial resistance, Dr. Dorthea Thompson, Vice Chair and Professor, Curriculum and Education Development Department in Pharmaceutical & Clinical Sciences, Campbell University, shared her research on disrupting beta-lactamase-mediated resistance in gram-negative bacteria. Her insights were well-received by students who were keenly interested in this growing concern in the field of medicine.

Dr. Victor Pulgar, Associate Professor of Pharmacology Department of Pharmaceutical & Clinical Sciences, Campbell University, presented different animal models for the detection and evaluation of cardiovascular disease. The information shared by Dr. Pulgar proved to be valuable for individuals in attendance who have an interest in preclinical research and drug development for cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Chiraj Trivedi, Global Head, Clinical Study Units (CSU), Early Operational Strategy at Sanofi, Mumbai had his presentation on opportunities and challenges in clinical trials. The insights shared by Dr. Trivedi can be particularly valuable for students and professionals seeking to enter the field of clinical research, as well as those seeking to deepen their understanding of the complexities inherent to the conduct of clinical trials.

Dr. M. Gulrez Zariwala, Professor & Director, Centre for Nutraceuticals, University of Westminster, United Kingdom had his presentation on optimizing nature’s novel formulations and delivery strategies to enhance nutrients and bioactive. The attendees were provided with valuable insights into the effective formulation and delivery of natural products and phytoconstituents. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by our esteemed principal, Dr. Abha Doshi, who expressed gratitude towards the organizers and speakers for their commendable efforts.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn about the latest research and advancements in clinical research and pharmacology. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into innovative strategies and approaches aimed at augmenting drug delivery and optimizing therapeutic outcomes.

The Students Council of MET IOP(Degree) organized a seminar on Eye Yoga on 14th of February 2023. This Seminar was conducted by Dr. Siddhi Shah, a certified Opthamologist and consultant. She has conducted many similar seminars in the USA and has a number of clients there as well. She informed the students of MET about the benefits of eye yoga and certain exercises to do such as blocking one eye for some period of time and seeing from the other eye. She further informed the students about a proper diet plan for maintaining eye health which should include berries, eggs, leafy vegetables etc and urged students to reduce screen time. For the students who wear glasses, she advised them not to wear their spectacles directly after waking up. The seminar was educational and indeed eye opening in regards to certain facts about the human eye.

The seminar had a panel of renowned speakers like Dr. Jayaraman, Nuclear Scientist (BARC), Chairman, National Centre for Science Communicators, Dr. N Sivaprasad, President, Indian Pharmaceutical Association Maharashtra State Branch & Technical Advisor, GRIL, Dr. Yojana Singh, Senior Manager, Market Research & Publicity, BRIT, Smt. Uma Sheri, Scientific Officer, BRIT and Smt. Preethi Nair, Scientific Officer, BRIT.

The guest speakers enlightened the students about the uses of radioisotopes in daily life, the selection of isotopes, specialised vehicles of radioisotopes, growth of tc99, production of molybdenum, advantages and disadvantages of gel generators and autoselect, Cold kit technetium, Chemistry of technetium and its various uses in the medical field, the isotopes and their production, the supply chain management and radiopharmacy industry, shortage reasons, JIT and RP. The sessions intrigued the young minds & received appreciation from the attending students and faculty from various other pharmacy institutions.

The two days made students aware of the progressive field of radiopharmaceuticals.
