Students and faculty of MET Institute of Management visited a Gurudwara in Dadar, Mumbai on 16th November 2025 to gain practical exposure to the philosophy of sewa and understand its relevance to modern management practices.

During the visit, the group interacted with Gurudwara committee members, Mr. Harmeet Singh, Mr. Gurjinder Singh, and Mr. Balbir Singh, who shared valuable insights into the Five Ks, the history of Sikhism, and the true meaning of the word Sikh, which translates to “one who learns continuously.” This reinforced the principle that effective managers must evolve, adapt, and remain lifelong learners.

Students listened to Kirtan, gaining a deeper appreciation for how spiritual grounding cultivates discipline, emotional balance, clarity, and mindful decision-making.

A highlight of the visit was observing ‘the Langar’ — a large-scale community kitchen run entirely by volunteers with remarkable teamwork, coordination, humility, and resource optimization. With no formal hierarchy, it showcased values-based leadership rooted in empathy, cooperation, and discipline.

The experience enriched students’ understanding of lifelong learning, ethical leadership, service, humility, and the human side of management.
