Aashadi Ekadashi celebration at MET IOP
2024-07-20
MET Institute of Pharmacy celebrated the auspicious day of Aashadi Ekadashi on the 17th of July, 2024. Aashadi Ekadashi commemorates the day when Lord Vishnu, in his form as Vitthal, decided to rest in Pandharpur, a town in Maharashtra. According to legend, devotees of Vitthal (also known as Varkaris) undertake a pilgrimage, known as \'wari\' or \'palkhi,\' from various parts of Maharashtra to Pandharpur on this occasion. Devotees at MET gathered for the Vitthal puja and returned to celebrate the day by chanting hymns and bhajans dedicated to Vitthal.
Students drew a wonderful rangoli depicting the Lord, and the whole classroom was transformed with elaborate decorations. All the MET devotees offered flowers, tulsi leaves, and fruits to the deity as a token of their devotion. The aarti was graced by our trustee, Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal, adding to the sanctity of the celebration.
A bhajan mandali, comprising our MET staff and students, performed devotional songs known as abhangas and bhajans, composed by saints like Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar. Their soulful performances enhanced the festive atmosphere and made the celebration of Aashadi Ekadashi truly memorable.
