First Virtual International Research Conference on ‘Dynamic Positioning Management and Tectonic Shift’ was hosted by MET Institute of Management on 20th & 21st March, 2021 co-sponsored by Western Regional Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) & Forum of Management Institutions (Affiliated to University of Mumbai). The inaugural session began with Dr. Sangeeta Tandon, Dy Director - MET IOM explaining the relevance of the topic in today’s times followed by Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal, Hon. Trustee - MET highlighting the need to be vigilant to the changes in the external and internal environment and respond to them appropriately.

Day one of the International Conference comprised of keynote speakers - Mr. Nayar, KPMG who spoke candidly about the shift of power & technology, Mr. Gaurav Wahi, MD (Market Head) - DBS Private Bank in Singapore gave insights on virtual leadership, AI, blockchain, cryptocurrency & various technologies used in the business also emphasizing that data is the new oil for any organization and Mr. Atul Tatk, an Entrepreneur & Venture Capitalist in Boston, shared his experiences with technology startups in the American environment. These sessions on ‘The Virtual Workplace Leadership’ and ‘The New Fintech’ were chaired by MET faculty Prof. Dr. Farida Virani, Prof. Dr. Sandeep Chopde and Prof. Dr. Nitin Kulkarni.

The second day, expert was Ms. Rajshree Gadgil, Celebrity Nutrition Expert Founder & CEO - RSG Nutrition highlighted the difference between Safe Positioning versus Dynamic Positioning. She proposed the reliance on Nutrition, Fitness, health, and Happiness. Another guest speaker Mr. Shahin Surti, MBA in Finance, CFA and Portfolio Manager in Dubai referred to three building blocks: the Government, Demographics and Technology. Mr. Nathan Phillips, CIO - Airtel discussed how Covid19 pandemic affected the telecom industry where everyone was connected to network, data and demand for internet connection at homes was at peak while Mr. Rishav Sinha, PMP Certified Program Manager with 15 years of experience in IT, Telecom, Infra and Healthcare described Bridgital innovation through opportunities that exist in India for digital access, online education, agri business by way of logistics and healthcare. The sessions on various topics like ‘The New Age Marketing’ and ‘The Bridgital Innovation’ were chaired by Prof. Dr. Vijay Page, Director General - MET IOM and members of faculty Prof. Dr. Rajiv Gupte, Prof. Arun Patil, Dr. Nirmala Joshi and Prof. Vikas Naik who summarized the entire event. MET IOM’s ‘First Virtual International Conference’ was very informative and incredibly beneficial to the future management professionals.

MET’s, Schools of Management hosted a talk on 11th February, 2020 by Mr. Chandrashekhar Tilak, Executive Vice President – NSDL on the subject “Artha-Shakti” Annual Budget Seminar 2020 at 3.00 pm in the Convention Centre for the Management students. In his sixty minutes talk, he presented the Transformation of Indian economy to Information Technology based services and salient features of 2020 Budget. He explained the audience which comprised of largely prospective managers, to look beyond the traditional careers and explore job opportunities in the ever expanding Age neutral, Gender neutral, Server neutral sectors which today contribute immensely to Indian GDP. He was felicitated and thanked by DG, The programme was attended Dy. Director, HOD’s, and faculty & staff of Schools of Management besides students and alumni.

She was applauded for her presentation at the International forum. She received honors from Mr. Long, Ministry of Communication, Cambodia.

The National Institute of Personnel Management Western Region Human Resources Conference on “Human Resource Challenges Decade -3”held on 15th and 16th March, 2019 at Sofitel Hotel, BKC was attended by Namita Shah, Shriya Tak and Chinmoyee Saikia students of MMS Batch 2018-2020.

National Conference on Indian Banking Dynamics

MET Institute of Management and Mumbai Management Academy & Research jointly organized a daylong National Conference on ‘Growth Dynamics of Indian Banking Industry’ on 15th January, 2019 at MET campus. The main objective of the conference was to discuss the changing banking scenario in India, its challenges along with their solutions and opportunities. Distinguished experts and dignitaries from Indian Banking Industry contributed to the conference. The conference was well attended by research scholars, top notch professionals from Banking, Financial Services and Insurance sector (BFSI), faculty members and students of best B-schools in Mumbai.

The conference began with Dr. Vijay Page, Director General - MET Institute of Management giving an overview of the sessions, followed by a keynote address of Dr. S.K. Nanda, IAS (Rtd) and Former Secretary Home - Govt. of Gujarat. The panel one of the conference comprised of eminent personalities, Shri S. S. Mundra, Former Deputy Governor - Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shri S. Ravi, Chairman - Bombay Stock Exchange, Shri Ashwani Kumar, Former Chairman - DENA Bank, Shri G. R. Chintala, Chief General Manger - Dept. Of Refinance - NABARD, Shri Viswas Shinde, Chairman - Ramanand Multistate Co-Operative Credit Society Limited and Shri Bhavesh Mandlik, Director - Nirmiti Group of Companies, Dr. Tausif Malik, an Indian - American Social Entrepreneur and Dr. Vikas Shirodkar, Faculty - MET IOM.

Shri S. S. Mundra, Former Deputy Governor - Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guided the banking professionals and students on the ‘Future Dynamics of Indian Banking’, Shri S. Ravi, Chairman - Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) shared his insights on ‘Measures to promote Retail Investors in Stock Exchanges through Banking Network’ and Shri G. R. Chintala, Chief General Manger - Dept. Of Refinance - NABARD expressed his views on ‘Rural Economy and Institutional Support in Development’.

The panel two discussion experts were Ms. Harshala Chandorkar, COO - Trans Union CIBIL Limited, Dr. Keshab Nandy, Former DGM - Reserve Bank of India, Shri Mohan Tanksale, Former Chairman - Central Bank of India and Dr. J. N. Mishra, Former Deputy Managing Director - State Bank of India. Shri Madan Sabnavis, Chief Economist - CARE Rating Ltd. moderated the discussion. The panel addressed the questions on various topics including Retail Banking, Lending habits of customers and measures taken by banks, Corporate Banking in digital world and Role of PSU Banks in the digitized economy. The conference was very informative and educational on so many levels of banking sector.
