On 16th July 2025, students of MET Institute of Management, in collaboration with Welingkar Institute of Management (WeSchool), successfully concluded a six-month student-led consulting engagement under the Sundar Soap initiative — a social impact project driven by the Gabriel Project NGO in partnership with the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai.

The culmination of this initiative was marked by a final Go-To-Market Strategy presentation, where participating students — Arin Patil, Abhishek Yadav, Sharvari Desai, Yash Parmar, and Akshat Choudhari — along with their mentors Prof. Manmeet Barve (Dean - Academics) and Prof. Rohit Mohite, were felicitated with Certificates and Letters of Appreciation by Mr. Kobbi Shoshani, Hon’ble Consul General of Israel in Mumbai. This recognition stands as a moment of immense pride and encouragement for all those involved.

From the initial ideation to strategic execution, Sundar Soap evolved into more than just a consulting assignment. It became a platform to learn, collaborate, and contribute meaningfully to a cause greater than ourselves. The initiative allowed students to apply classroom concepts to real-world social challenges while gaining insights into sustainable business models and community engagement.

We express our deep gratitude to Dr. Swati Lodha, Director, MET Institute of Management, for her steadfast support and for providing our students with this invaluable platform to apply their learning to a real-world, purpose-driven initiative.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our collaborative partner WeSchool — their students and faculty team played an instrumental role in making this project a true example of academic synergy and social innovation.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the dedicated team at the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai — Mr. Anay Joglekar, Ms. Rewa Khare, and Ms. Hadar Spormas — for their warmth, meticulous coordination, and continuous support throughout the project.

We remain thankful to the Gabriel Project NGO, and to Mr. Kenneth Dsouza, Ms. Vismita Rao and Ms. Thaiza Dias for their guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout the course of this meaningful initiative.

Kulkarni, Associate Professor, MET IOM at the Bodhgaya Dialogue on Leveraging India’s Buddhist Heritage for Soft Power, Cultural, Economic, and Security Integration, held at IIM Bodh Gaya on 19th September 2025, presented a paper on Unlocking the Economic Potential of Buddhist Tourism: Regional Partnerships, Cultural Circuits, and Sustainable Growth.

In his paper, Dr. Kulkarni examined India’s position in the global tourism landscape, with particular emphasis on the potential of Buddhist heritage as a driver of sustainable development. He identified key challenges that constrain India’s growth in this sector and proposed the 5-T Model - Tourism, Trade, Technology, Transparency, and Trust - as a holistic framework to address them.

He emphasized that this model can enable stronger regional partnerships, facilitate the creation of vibrant cultural circuits, and promote sustainable growth in the Buddhist neighbourhood with India as the central hub. His presentation underscored how Buddhist tourism, if strategically nurtured, can serve as both an economic catalyst and a vital component of India’s cultural diplomacy.
