Design Thinking is the buzzword in many renowned B schools in the US for last few years. Stanford University is the leading light in spreading & promoting this concept. In India, despite of this program being shown in the syllabus of many institutes, the execution still remains a question.
Many B schools in Mumbai are still at the stage of one work on the subject. We at MET PGDM have gone one step ahead.
Thus we are glad to inform you that Design Thinking is now a part of our curriculum which will be jointly taught by the Dean of MET PGDM Prof V.V. Naik along with Mrs. Tanaya Deo, a management graduate from IIT Kharagpur with an industry experience in TCS.
What does the subject do?
Design Thinking will equip the students with powerful tools, which they can use in their professional life to resolve complex issues and come up with creative and innovative solutions that comply with constraints of viability, feasibility and desirability while keeping human interest at its core.
As we have advantage of design thinking being a full time subject and not a workshop, the students get a hands on experience on defining the problem statement, designing the prototypes and coming up with most optimum solution. One of the most important aspect of the process in design thinking is Prototype building In each of the stages starting from problem definition to implemetation. At Initial stage the emphasis is on building as many simple prototypes as number of ideas generated to a more realistic prototype which will depict what is the final solution to be implemented
A few of the prototypes where the students have demonstrated their design thinking skills can be found below.
Amusement Parks – The students were asked to apply principles of Design Thinking and create different prototypes for “User Experience†in Amusement parks.
Cinema – Experience of watching a movie in a theatre is not limited to just watching the movie – it involves many more things. Students redesigned the complete ‘movie theatre experience’ so that cinema – goers are much more engaged and comfortable.
Tea Lounge – Days of cafe are over in Indian and ‘tea-lounges’ are the in-thing. Indians are essentially tea lovers since centuries. The students were given the task of creating a complete ‘tea-lounge’ experience using Design Thinking.
Train – Trains form a very important part of any Persons life in India But usually people who have thought about train journeys have only focused on trains. There are so many allied things such as stations, platform, parking, etc. There is a huge opportunity to create a holistic business model if we engage the passenger from the time he/she books the tickets. Students were asked to prototype a holistic train passenger experience.
Village – India has traditionally been an agrarian economy village but with so many people living in cities and working in industries, people are forgetting their roots. People in cities want an experience of village life, the clean air, water, fresh vegetables, etc.
That is why; village tourism is a growing sector. Still, the number of people engaged as well as ideas for village tourism is very limited. Students applied Design Thinking principles and came up with many innovative prototypes of village tourism experience.
Zoo – Primary concept of zoo in India is animals displayed in small enclosure or cages. Students came up with prototypes to completely change the way we experience a zoo.

In today’s fast-paced and demanding lifestyle, it is essential to be aware of simple yet effective ways to care for our health.
On 26th September 2025, the MET HR Department organized a special health awareness workshop \"Thoda Gyaan, Thodi Muskaan\", designed to guide staff on handling medical emergencies and adopting preventive measures for overall well-being.
The session was conducted by renowned physician Dr. Tushar Shah, who combined practical health tips with lighthearted humor, making learning both insightful and engaging.
Through such initiatives, MET continues to prioritize the holistic welfare of its community.
Research Paper Competition 2025

MET Institute of PGDM and MET Human Resource Club in collaboration with HR Sampark, proudly hosted the National HR Conclave 2025 on 27th September 2025.
As part of the conclave, the Research Paper Competition was presented by MET Institute of PGDM and the MET Human Resource Club. The students of PGDM Batch 2024-26 showcased their research work, drawing valuable insights from their summer internship experiences. Topics ranged from Resume Quality and Recruitment Efficiency to HR Tech Platforms and Enhancing Organizational Training Efficiency. The competition was judged by eminent experts Dr. Neil Sequeira, Chief Operating Officer, Thane Cancer Hospital and Ms. Anagha Kapse, Deputy Manager HR, Indian Oil Adani Ventures, after careful evaluation, Ms. Mugdha Pawar, was declared the Winner, while Ms. Ambika Hundey, secured the position of First Runner-up.
Heartiest congratulations to the winners for their outstanding research insights and to all participants for their valuable contributions. This event truly reflected the spirit of innovation, critical thinking, and academic excellence that MET Institute of PGDM continues to nurture.
Human Resources Conclave 2025

MET Institute of PGDM and MET PGDM Human Resource Club proudly organised the National Human Resources Conclave 2025 on 27th September 2025 in collaboration with HR Sampark – People.
The event began with a lamp-lighting ceremony led by CA Dr. Das Shyamsundar, Director – MET PGDM, and Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal, Hon. Trustee – Mumbai Educational Trust, marking the start of an enriching day.
The conclave was graced by eminent industry leaders and HR professionals including,, Mr. Ashish Banka, Global Lead – Talent Acquisition & HRBP at Cradlewise; Ms. Archana Vijayan, CEO, Arvi Achievers; Mr. Sandesh Palkar, Group AVP, DCB Bank; Mr. Rajiv Jain, Group Head – HR, Ashok Goel Family Office; Dr. Pallavi Babar, DGM, Xanadu Realty Limited; Dr. Sandeep Das, SVP & Head Domain Training, Kotak Mahindra Bank; Ms. Anagha Kapse, Deputy Manager HR, Indian Oil Adani Ventures; Mr. Vitthal Labade, Head HR India, PolyPeptide Group; Mr. Mukesh Singh, AVP Generative AI and Ms. Dev Deepika, VP & Head HR, Fiserv, shared their expertise with PGDM students.
A key highlight was the panel discussion on AI in HR, which explored themes like prompt engineering in resume building, embracing change while staying authentic, humanising work while integrating AI, and the importance of resilience in the digital era.
The conclave provided students with valuable insights into balancing technology with human values, preparing them to thrive in the evolving world of work.
